Network Values
If you or your organization is interested in becoming an affiliate, please begin by reading the below U4I Network Values.
United4Iran (U4I) is first and foremost a network working internationally to promote fundamental human and civil rights in Iran. U4I holds the belief in the national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is opposed to economic sanctions, covert operations, and military strikes against Iran, which will inevitably have catastrophic consequences on innocent people.
As such, the network’s purpose, values, and policies are highlighted here.
Overarching goals of the U4I network
- Support and amplify the activities of like-minded organizations by providing toolkits, resources, contacts, strategic planning, media support, and more.
- Help individuals and organizations in moving from planning and intentions to action.
- Link people, organizations, and resources in every way possible.
- Find good ideas wherever they are, and distribute them as widely as possible.
- Coordinate selective human & civil rights focused events and campaigns, both globally and online.

Network Values
- As a network, we have just enough structure to efficiently organize ourselves. Structure enables the work, and not the other way around! We are decentralized, adaptable, and open to ideas and suggestions. We try to avoid too much hierarchy, as we find the best glue is a common purpose, vision, and action.
- U4I collaborates with anyone and everyone that agrees to and shares our purpose and values.
- Our ultimate goal is to support human and civil rights in Iran and influence real changes within Iran. We are here to empower both Iranian and non-Iranian people and activists and to help build a global human rights movement, not to create an organization.
- How we do the work is as important as what we do. We aim to “be the change we want to see in the world” and believe democracy begins at home. We are a network that is diverse in style, tactics and perspective. We value respect, tolerance, honesty, and kindness.
- We celebrate and recognize achievements and results and encourage delivering on specific objectives, following through, and remaining accountable.
- We are an inclusive and diverse network. We value participation and substantive representation of men and women and from all nationalities, ethnicities, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, age, and professional and personal backgrounds.
- Some regions have various organizations around the same locale. U4I is more than happy to coordinate with more than one group from an area, regardless of name.
U4I’s Affiliates Guidelines
As a loose and flexible network, U4I works with a wide range of groups and organizations with common goals and actions. Groups, referred to as ‘affiliates’, focus on a specific geographic area, topic, or constituency. Examples include city groups, student organizations, gender-equality advocates, human rights defenders, and public awareness/media campaigners.
To ensure that all of the collaborating groups, be it U4I or affiliate, have the ability both to collaborate and maintain distinct and independent voices, actions, and projects, a few guidelines were created.
