A Call to Action from the Organizers of “Syria Sit-In”

فارسی

Dear Brothers & Sisters at United4Iran:

Since mid-March 2011, entire cities have been displaced, with armed security forces violently and brutally cracking down on the people of Syria.

We ask: WHERE IS THE WORLD?

We invite you to join a solidarity campaign in the form of a Syrian Sit-in on YouTube. The effort is aimed at showing solidarity with the people of Syria, to support them in their peaceful protests, and to condemn the countless peaceful demonstrators that have been arrested and killed. We wish to gather videos of support from all over the world and from all nationalities to express our solidarity with the democratic demands and aspirations of the Syrian people.

We thank you in advance for your kind participation in this sit-in. Taking part will prove that the Iranian people do not support the role of the Iranian regime in the brutal crackdown against the Syrian people.

To Participate in the Syrian Sit-in on YouTube:

  1. Film yourself conveying the following message in whatever language you are most comfortable with: “I stand in solidarity with the Syrian people. I reject the brutality and killing that the Syrian authorities are committing against the unarmed Syrian people. Because silence is participation in this crime, I declare my participation in the Syrian Sit-in.”
  2. Please forward the video to SyrianHub@gmail.com to be shared worldwide.

*Note from U4I: You do NOT have to be Iranian to participate! Everyone of every background and language is urged to take part! If you feel more comfortable taking a picture of yourself holding a sign with a message of solidarity, feel free to participate in that way. You can download signs to print below. Send the picture to us at share@united4iran.org and we will compile all the pictures into a short video slideshow to send to the Syrian Sit-In organizers. Please send your pictures as soon as possible!

Take Action! Urge Iranian authorities to halt the execution of Iranian-Kurdish citizens

Write to Iranian authorities and embassies worldwide expressing concern over the execution sentences of two Kurdish citizens, Zanyar Moradi and Loghman Moradi. Both were sentenced to death by public hanging on December 22, 2010. The verdict was passed down by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Judge Salavati, after a trial which reportedly lasted only 20-mintues. Both men faced dubious charges of moharebeh (enmity against god), for alleged involvement with the murder of the son of the Friday Prayer Imam in Marivan, and for membership in the Komala Party. On October 12, 2011 it was reported that the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the execution sentences.
