    Persia ©2010 by Farshid Kamali

I was born in the cradle of civilization
land of proud people and a great nation
where great kings of the past are laid to rest
with a great history where all countries will attest

but this country’s people are no longer proud
injustice is now seen in the faces of the crowds
citizens persecuted everyday for their beliefs
the government’s rhetoric brings no comfort or relief

    (chorus)
Persia’s name was synonymous with greatness
but bow its justifiably stained by the words of the press
the world is well aware of all your evil doings
political officials are aware of revolutions brewing

innocent people are tortured and killed
but government plans will not be fulfilled
you will not silence the voice of the people
all will unite against you, the strong and the feeble

    (bridge)
    call it Persia
    or call it Iran
    for us soon
    a new day will dawn

pack your things and leave our great country
the people need to know what its like to be free
empty your mosques and your desecrated towers
will of the people has always had the greatest power
